Don Corbett Taylor, M.D., ’92

October 3, 2016

Don Corbett Taylor, M.D., ’92 passed away on Monday, October 3, 2016, at the age of 58.

He was born August 10, 1958, in Provo, Utah and was the second child of Jesse Martin Taylor and Mary Elizabeth Corbett’s 11 children. Don graduated high school at Greenhill School in Addison.

Don met his Norwegian sweetheart Hilde as a young man, and the two were married in Oslo, Norway, on July 3, 1981. The two have been married for 35 years and were blessed with four children, Don (Kari) Taylor, Michael (Jill) Taylor, Christina (Dustin) Peterson, and Benjamin (Kaly) Taylor. With the 10th grandchild on the way, Don was a loving “Daddy Taylor” to every precious baby. Family meant everything to him.

Don graduated from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston Medical School (now known as McGovern Medical School at UTHealth) in 1992, and completed his residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston in 1996. Don had resided in Tyler for the past 20 years and had made an enormous impact on the medical community as the Medical Director at Family Circle of Care and on the medical staff at Christus Mother Frances Hospital. Every baby he delivered was a miracle in his eyes. He loved his colleagues, his nurses and his patients.

Don loved working with the youth and served faithfully in every assignment. He was adored for his loving demeanor, never shying away from a gentle hug or kiss on the cheek. Don enjoyed traveling to Norway, spending time outdoors and his favorite activities always included his children and grandchildren who he loved dearly. All who knew him felt his love and acceptance.

He endured complications from ALS, which he so lovingly preferred to stand for, “Always Love the Savior.”
