Douglas Randolph Thurman, M.D., ’83, born April 1, 1955 in Fort Benning, Georgia to Carl and Jean Thurman, passed away on April 23, 2016. As a proud 1977 Texas A&M graduate, he moved on to attend The University of Texas Medical School at Houston (now known as McGovern Medical School at UTHealth) and completed his residency in Internal Medicine in 1986 and Gastroenterology Fellowship in 1988, both at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School’s affiliated hospitals in Dallas, Texas. He specialized in the field of Gastroenterology and was a partner physician with Digestive and Liver Disease Consultants, PA. Doug is survived by his wife Tracy, his parents, daughter Emily, son Brian (Amanda), brother Steve (Martha), sisters Lydia (Doug) and Jeannie (Steve), and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother Art. Dr. Thurman was an outstanding physician dedicated to the well-being and care of his patients. He was a smart, beautiful, kind, caring, gentle, funny, and talented man.
