Student Chapter of the Alumni Association Year-End Message

March 29, 2016

March 18th marked the Match for the Medical School Class of 2016.  In a few short months, we will be welcoming them as alumni of the University of Texas Medical School and it is  our alumni that help make our institution what it is today. In an effort to connect our students with these distinguished alumni, students Erin McHugh (MS3) and Farrukh Virani (MS3) with the effort and dedication of Derrick Miller, director of alumni relations and Dr. Chassay, associate dean of alumni relations, launched the first year of “Grand Sounds.” This blue book series was designed to allow students to hear from alumni in the community about their unique paths into medicine.

With a year under our belts, we hope students have made mentorship connections and we have sparked interest among the alumni to get involved on a broader level.

We would like to extend a big thank you to the Class of 2018 representatives Claire Ellis and Nida Hassan for all their hard work to help make this year a success and to all the alumni guests who took time out of their busy schedules to visit with our students.  We look forward to next year, and stay tuned for more events over the summer!
