Two receptions were held for prospective medical students in Austin and College Station. Students that attended have been offered pre-match acceptance at McGovern Medical School.
On December 5, 2015, Bryan Townsend, MD ’92 and his wife Pamela hosted the central Texas area students. Students representing The University of Texas at Austin and surrounding schools enjoyed Mexican food and refreshments along with alumni stories regarding the medical school. On December 10, 2015, Texas A&M prospective students enjoyed a reception held at the home of alumnus Tom Wagner, MD ’90 and his wife Jeanne.
Many of the students strongly believe that McGovern Medical School is the right place to begin their medical careers. Derrick Miller, director of alumni relations, Kisha Kohl, admissions administrative coordinator, Karla Trochez, sr. support specialist, and Mark Chassay, MD ’92, associate dean for alumni relations/assistant dean for admissions and student affairs attended the events to answer questions and provide counsel for the students and alumni.
