US News Ranking Childrens

This year, the Children’s Heart Center at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital-TMC earned a 3-star rating from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) for its patient care and outcomes in congenital heart surgery. This rating signifies the highest category of quality and places the Children’s Heart Center among the top echelon of hospitals for congenital heart surgery in the US and Canada. The STS star rating system is one of the most sophisticated and highly regarded overall measurements of quality in health care, comparing the nationally benchmarked outcomes of cardiothoracic surgery programs.

The Children’s Heart Center also jumped from #46 to #26 this year in U.S. News & World Report rankings for 50 Best Hospitals for Children’s Cardiology and Heart Surgery. The U.S. News rankings are based on survival after congenital heart surgery, staffing ratios, services and technologies, commitment to best practices, ability to prevent infection, along with a host of other quality metrics.

This incredible achievement to improve quality of care is a culmination of the hard work and combined efforts between Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital and McGovern Medical School at UTHealth, and all of the amazing people who work tirelessly every day to care for these young patients.
