Department Faculty Published in Local and Regional Anesthesia

Faculty from the Department of Anesthesiology and the Department of Surgery at McGovern Medical School, UTHealth, published an original research article in the August 2019 issue of Local and Regional Anesthesia. “Impact of serratus plane block on pain scores and incentive spirometry volumes after chest trauma,” evaluates using the serratus plane block (SBP) technique to effectively control pain levels in patients with multiple rib fractures (MRF). The single-blind study found that SBP improved patient pain scores and incentive spirometry (IS) in MRF, and may offer an alternative pain management solution to neuraxial techniques.
