ORL Frontiers returns in person June 17
The Department of Otorhinolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery (ORL) will host the 2022 ORL Frontiers medical education meeting from noon-6 p.m. June 17 at the Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine (1825 Pressler St.).
ORL Frontiers is the culmination of the academic year for the department and highlights research endeavors and emerging technology in the diagnosis and management of common otolaryngologic clinical problems. The event discusses new basic science research and its potential importance in clinical practice while evaluating patient safety and quality improvement practices.
Ralph Tufano, MD, Medical Director of Head and Neck Endocrine Surgery at Sarasota Memorial Health Care System, will serve as the featured speaker for 2022 ORL Frontiers, where he will speak on “Personalized Care for Thyroid Nodules and Differentiated Thyroid Cancer in 2022.”
Tufano is a world-renowned thyroid and parathyroid surgeon who specializes in the management of hyperparathyroidism; thyroid nodules; early, advanced, and recurrent thyroid cancers; neck lymph node metastases; goiter and Graves’ disease. His expertise and novel treatment techniques for thyroid and parathyroid diseases have helped personalize treatment and improve surgical outcomes for patients with these conditions.
Speakers from the Department of Otorhinolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery include Ron Karni, MD, associate professor; Martin Citardi, MD, professor and chair; Arturo Eguia, MD, resident; Tang Ho, MD, associate professor; Sai Challapalli, MD, resident; and Kunal Jain, MD, assistant professor.
Course directors for 2022 ORL Frontiers are Karni and Amber Luong, MD, PhD, professor and vice chair for research.
