15th Aortic Symposium to be held March 16-18

The 15th annual Houston Aortic Symposium Frontiers in Cardiovascular Diseases is scheduled for March 16-18 at The Westin Oaks (5011 Westheimer Rd.).

The two-and-a-half-day symposium features topics on structural heart, aortic root/BAV, ascending aorta, transverse arch, aortic dissection, AAA/physiology/pathology, and DTAA/TAAA.

The symposium is designed for vascular surgeons, cardiothoracic surgeons, interventional radiologists, cardiologists, anesthesiologists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, perfusionists, and other health care professionals involved in the care and treatment of patients with aortic diseases.

After attending the symposium, participants should be able to:

  • Examine the latest advances in robotic cardiac surgery including training strategies
  • Evaluate new FDA-approved thoracic aortic devices
  • Discuss the history and current state of aortic arch surgery
  • Assess recent improvements in cerebral protection methods
  • Examine the AHA Aortic Guidelines as they relate to vascular surgery, cardiac surgery, and genetics
  • Discuss the evolution of the aortic dissection classification system and new AI-based aortic analysis
  • Evaluate disparities in vascular surgery and aortic dissection outcomes
  • Examine spinal cord ischemia risk and protection during TAAA repair
