VIPR Webinar Series

Join Aislinn Burns and Bella Pacheco, Rice University undergraduate students share their VIPR Summer Research projects. Students were under the mentorship and supervision of Dr. Alex Testa, Associate Professor in the Department of Management, Policy, and Community Health at UTHealth Houston School of Public Health, San Antonio Regional Campus. Aislinn and Bella are part of our VIPR Summer Research and Practice Experience 2026 cohort.
Aislinn used data from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health to examine whether exposure to fatal and non-fatal shootings was associated with unmet health care needs among adults living in the 100 largest US cities.
Bella used data from the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System to examine whether emotional, physical, or sexual intimate partner violence during pregnancy was associated with cardiovascular disease risk among recent mothers.
