About Our Program
The Sports Medicine Fellowship Program is a collaboration between the Department of Family and Community Medicine and the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the McGovern Medical School, a part of the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
Our mission is to train the best sports medicine physicians for the future. We strive to train sports medicine physicians with the skills to care for the whole person, their family and community. We provide service to patients of diverse cultural, ethnic and economic backgrounds, teaching the fellows to treat all patients with dignity regardless of their patient’s background.
The experience in this university setting allows the physician to learn negotiation and administrative skills that will allow them to facilitate teams throughout their career.
The diversity and flexibility of the educational experience at the UTHealth Sports Medicine Fellowship Program provides the future sports medicine physicians with the knowledge and skills to succeed in his or her career, regardless of the path they choose to follow.
