Biography

Robert A. Hetz, M.D. is a cardiothoracic surgeon at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center and Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital. He is an assistant professor in the department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.

Board-certified in general surgery, Dr. Hetz earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center Houston. He completed his general surgery internship and residency at McGovern Medical School. He performed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center Houston under Dr. Charles S. Cox, MD, performing both clinical and basic science research on the use of progenitor cell therapies for the treatment of central nervous system diseases. He then went on to complete his Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center/UTHealth Houston.
