In the past two years, Danny Ramzy, MD, PhD, professor of cardiac surgery, and his team, have successfully performed a series of groundbreaking robotic heart surgeries. The achievements include the state’s inaugural combined robotic aortic and mitral valve repair, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in cardiac care.
In addition, Dr. Ramzy and his team have achieved Texas’ first totally endoscopic robotic beating heart myocardial bridge unroofing, demonstrating their proficiency in intricate and minimally invasive procedures. The successful robotic unroofing of an anomalous coronary and the robotic placement of the Chord-X system for mitral valve repair also showcases their innovative approach to addressing complex cardiac issues with advanced precision.
This series of achievements not only positions Dr. Ramzy, and his cardiac surgery team, as leaders in the field, but also upholds the rich legacy of Houston as a hub for trailblazing innovation in advanced heart surgery. Congratulations to our cardiac surgery team!
