Larson wins SCOPY Award

The American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) has named Scott Larson, MD, PhD, assistant professor of gastroenterology, in the Department of Internal Medicine, and his team from Lyndon B. Johnson (LBJ) Hospital, as the winners of the 2019 SCOPY Award for “Best Community Awareness Initiatives by a Hospital.”

“I was very happy and honored to hear the news,” Larson said. “I notified our lab team at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital, and they were elated with the news as well. This award highlights the importance of promoting colon cancer awareness to an underserved community that may be apprehensive or unaware of the importance of colon cancer screening.”
