Biography

 

Dr. Kim earned his PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering at The University of Iowa. In July 2005, he was recruited to the Feinberg Cardiovascular Research Institute, Northwestern University as a Research Engineer. Dr. Kim joined the McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston (UTHealth) in September 2006 as an Assistant Professor. He is currently a Visiting Scientist.

Dr. Kim is a reviewer for a number of biomedical engineering and medical journals, and is a grant reviewer for the American Heart Association and the National Institutes of Health. His professional memberships include the American Heart Association, the Biomedical Engineering Society, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers – Bioengineering Division.

Current research projects include the development of advanced computational techniques for patient-specific mitral valve evaluation, and the development of molecular ultrasound imaging techniques using targeted echogenic immunoliposomes.
