Dr. Young received her undergraduate degree from Rice University in Houston, Texas, and was awarded her medical degree from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas.  She completed her internship and residency training in a Combined Family Medicine and Internal Medicine residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia, where she also served as the Chief Resident from 2012 to 2013.  She completed a year-long fellowship training in Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas before pursuing Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep fellowship training at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) McGovern Medical School.

Board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Hospice/Palliative Care Medicine, Dr. Young joined the faculty at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth as an Assistant Professor with dual appointments in the Division of Critical Care Medicine and the Division of Geriatric and Palliative Care Medicine in 2016.

Dr. Young also serves in our nation’s military as a Major in the United States Air Force’s Critical Care Air Transport Team.
