Biography

Dr. Christine Gordon obtained her undergraduate degree in General Sciences-Biology from Grinnell College in Iowa, attended the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis, and completed her Internal Medicine Residency training at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon where she participated in the Primary Care Track of the Internal Medicine Residency Program. Following her residency training, she worked at Oregon Health and Science University Primary Care Internal Medicine Clinic until her move to Houston, Texas in 2020 to begin her General Medicine Fellowship at UTHealth Houston McGovern Medical School.

During her General Medicine Fellowship at UTHealth, she had the opportunity to participate in a variety of clinical, educational, and research activities, many of which she continued as she transitioned to her current role as an assistant professor. She provided primary care for adult patients at two outpatient UTP General Medicine Clinics where she also serves as a preceptor to Internal Medicine Residents. She has continued the educational activities she began during her fellowship, including serving as a facilitator for small groups of medical students for the Practice-Based Learning course, serving as a preceptor and didactic instructor for Internal Medicine Residents during their Ambulatory Curriculum, and leading small group training sessions for medical students on Implicit Bias. During her fellowship her participation in the Community for Medical Education Scholars helped her develop and pilot educational innovations at UTHealth such as a musculoskeletal exam and procedural skills workshop for Internal Medicine Residents and inspired her to enroll in the Health Educators Fellowship program to further her skills in teaching as well as educational scholarship. She currently serves as course director for the Immigrant Health module for the 3rd year medicine clerkship. Her involvement in QI during her fellowship paved the way for her participation in the Clinical Safety and Effectiveness Course, for which she is currently developing a quality improvement project to improve cervical cancer screening documentation at UTP.
