Effrosyni Apostolidou is an assistant professor at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth. She did her residency at the University of Pennsylvania Health System and her fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her clinical interests are hematologic malignancies and in benign diseases of the blood, especially such as platelet disorders and thrombosis hemostasis. She has previously co-authored several articles in the area of hematology and participated in clinical trial design of new anti-leukemia agents. Dr. Apostolidou is interested in health disparities and improvement of health care in underserved populations, particularly populations with hematologic malignancies, and she serves as a medical director of the Lyndon B Johnson Hematology Clinic. She is currently working on research projects on leukemia patient outcomes and quality improvement projects on the utilization of thrombophilia testing in the Memorial Herman hospital system.
