Biography
Dr. Enrique Garcia-Sayan received his medical degree from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Henry Ford Hospital (Detroit, MI) where he served as Chief Resident, and a fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at Rush University Medical Center (Chicago, IL) where he served as Chief Fellow. He practiced as a Cardiologist at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, before joining the faculty at UTHealth McGovern Medical School as an Assistant Professor in March 2017. In addition to his clinical duties, he currently serves as the Director of Echocardiography and Associate Chief of Cardiology at LBJ General Hospital.
Dr. Garcia-Sayan’s clinical interests include preventive cardiology, management of patients with valvular heart disease, coronary artery disease and congestive heart failure, as well as cardiovascular imaging. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and American Society of Echocardiography.
Dr. Garcia-Sayan enjoys teaching medical students, residents and cardiology fellows, and has published several papers in peer-reviewed publications in his field.
