Biography

Dr. Jorge Quesada is an Associate Professor in the Division of Oncology at The University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHealth) Medical School.  He received his medical degree from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma De Mexico in Mexico City and completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Instituto Nacional de al Nutricion de Mexico, also in Mexico City. Dr. Quesada completed a fellowship in Medical Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Quesada is internationally recognized for his pioneering work in biological response modifiers and is responsible for the discovery of the antileukemic activity of interferon alpha against hairy cell leukemia, a rare type of leukemia for which no other form of consistently effective treatment existed. Dr. Quesada is a general oncologist with special interest in malignant melanoma, multiple myeloma and lung cancer. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is fluent in Spanish and active in the Hispanic community.
