Biography

Dr. Saunders attended Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.  He completed Internship, Residency, and served as Chief Resident in Internal Medicine at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Parkland Hospital System in Dallas. He completed fellowship and board certification in Atherosclerosis and Lipidology at Baylor College of Medicine, and then pursued fellowship training in Cardiology at the University of Michigan. He served as Chief Fellow in Cardiology, and then remained at the University of Michigan for training in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology, where he was awarded the Golden Pacemaker Award as outstanding Fellow in Cardiac Electrophysiology. He joined UT-Physicians EPHeart practice in 2015 and also holds an appointment as Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Outside of the office, he enjoys running, cycling and spending time with his wife and children.
