Biography

Dr. Reena V. Chokshi joined UTHealth in February 2016 as an Assistant Professor of Medicine. She received her medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2006 after completing her undergraduate education at Rice University. She went on to complete her internship and residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and her gastroenterology fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. During her fellowship she pursued advanced clinical training in gastrointestinal motility at the University of Iowa. Her initial appointment as an Assistant Professor of Medicine was at the University of Connecticut Health Center, where she served as the Director of GI Motility as well as the Director of Student Wellness for the medical school. In addition to her clinical and research interests in motility disorders, she has published work in women’s gastrointestinal health, including the incorporation of women’s GI health into fellowship education. She is an active member of the American Neurogastroenterology & Motility Society, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the American College of Gastroenterology
