Biography

Dr. Badillo is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at the McGovern Medical School at UTHealth. Dr. Badillo’s training in interventional endoscopy has conferred him the opportunity to provide a unique subset of skills to the patients in the greater Houston community.

Dr. Badillo earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Texas at El Paso and his medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. He went on to complete a three year Internal Medicine residency at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas. Afterwards, Dr. Badillo completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology at Washington University in Saint Louis and then went on to receive additional training in interventional endoscopy at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Dr. Badillo is well-trained in standard and advanced endoscopic procedures, including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), and endoscopic mucosal resection, among others. Dr. Badillo specializes in medical and interventional management of pancreatico-biliary disorders, placement of stents for therapy of gastrointestinal strictures, and prevention, early diagnosis and surveillance of various disorders of the digestive system. His medical approach is to combine new technological advances in the treatment of digestive disorders tailored to each individual patient.

Dr. Badillo’s research interests lie in endoscopic management of pancreatico-biliary disorders, endoscopy in patients with post-surgical anatomy, and medical trainee education. He is an active participant in multiple gastroenterological societies and has been involved in various leadership roles during his medical education and training.

Dr. Badillo is a native of Texas and is excited to return to his home state after spending time away for his medical training. He is accepting patients 18 years of age and older and speaks Spanish fluently.
