Thomas Cole to participate in Community Empowerment screening and panel

Filmmaker and Center Director, Thomas Cole, PhD, will have his film The Strange Demise of Jim Crow screened at the “Be the Solution: Empowerment Film & Summit.” The event will be held on Saturday, April 22 from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm at the Texas Southern University College of Education’s Auditorium, located at 3100 Cleburne St; both admission and parking are free.

The documentary, previously released in 1998, details the peaceful desegregation of Houston. Cole will participate in the panel discussion following the screening alongside Ada Edwards (community organizer), Judson Robinson, III (Houston Area Urban League), Christine Leveaux-Haley, PhD (University of Houston Honors College), Jerry Ford, Jr. (University of Houston), and Daniel Vasquez (Harris County Tejano Democrats). Council Member Amanda Edwards will moderate with Youth Pastor Ray Bady (Windsor Village United Methodist Church).
