Thomas Cole gives keynote at gerontological society scientific meeting

The 2018 Annual Scientific Meeting of The Gerontological Society of America (GSA) featured Center director, Thomas Cole, PhD, in giving the keynote address. The meeting was held in November 2018 in Boston and welcomed nearly 4,000 attendees in exploring the meeting theme, “The Purposes of Longer Lives.” In his keynote, Cole discussed “Numbering Our Days,” addressing the historical transition of aging from medieval to modern, tensions between science and religion or problems and mysteries, and key figures in the emergence of humanistic gerontology and the role of stories.

GSA is both the oldest and largest interdisciplinary scientific organization focused on advancements in gerontological research. The next annual scientific meeting will be held in November 2019 in Austin, TX.
