Members of McGovern Medical School and other Houston universities were led by Rita Charon, MD, PhD, in a narrative medicine workshop.  The workshop was attended by more than 20 faculty, residents, and medical students of McGovern Medical School, including the McGovern Center and various clinical departments, as well as instructors and scholars in Houston.  Charon is the originator of the field of narrative medicine and has published extensively on the subject.  She holds positions at Columbia University as Professor of Medicine and Executive Director of the Program in Narrative Medicine, which she founded in 2000.

As part of her visit, Charon will give the keynote address at the medical school’s commencement on Friday, May 17.
