Andrea Jain talks pain, stigma, and yoga

The McGovern Center’s humanities programs for dental and medical students welcomed Andrea R. Jain, PhD, for the Spring Humanities Dinner on January 30. Jain’s presentation was titled, “Pain, Stigma, and Yoga: The Politics of Self-Management Interventions,” which relates to her work on an upcoming article in Pain Medicine of the same name as well as her forthcoming book, Peace, Love, Yoga: The Politics of Global Spirituality. Associate professor of religious studies at Indiana University School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI, Jain is also editor of the Journal of the American Academy of Religion.  During her visit, Jain also met with humanities students and presented a lecture at Rice University.
