McGovern Center issues statement on racial justice
The McGovern Center for Humanities and Ethics takes this historic moment to recommit ourselves to the struggle against racism and for a more equitable society. In its teaching, research, university service, and public engagement, the Center has long stood for these things. Today, we renew this work. We are enhancing our current teaching in health disparities, black health, health policy, and cultures of racism. Our research into black and minority health and health care continues to grow. We are collaborating with UTHealth’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion and other administrative units, as we work toward improved clinical care and increased campus-wide awareness of racism. Center faculty are committed to public education and engagement and are available for consultation. We are committed to learning from and collaborating with students, faculty, and staff in pursuit of racial justice on our campus.
