Stem Cells for Parkinson’s Disease (PD)
Along with our UTHealth neurology colleagues, we hope to treat Parkinson’s disease (PD) with the patient’s own adult stem cells. After developing a mouse model of PD, we treated these mice with cells that were differentiated into neuronal precursors – stem cells for the brain. So far, the mice have done well and have shown improvements in their Parkinson symptoms. We are currently in the final phases of the pre-clinical work and are excited to enroll patients soon.
