Dr. Keely Smith
Dr. Keely Smith, assistant professor of pediatrics, has been awarded the Children at Risk Child Health Advocacy Award.

Smith, the director of the Pediatric Residency Program, was recognized for promoting community-based pediatric child health and legislative advocacy among UTHealth pediatric residents.

In the announcement letter to Smith, Robert Sanborn, president and CEO of Children at Risk, wrote: “You have helped to bring attention to crucial children’s issues and have helped to inspire fellow medical professionals to advocate for children’s needs. It is work like yours, done by individuals like you, that will help to achieve a better future for our children.”

Smith graduated from and completed her internal medicine/pediatrics residency at McGovern Medical School. Her research and clinical interests include pediatric residency education and training; childhood asthma; vocal cord dysfunction; and epidemiology and management for severe asthma.
