Sickle Cell walk logoDoctors, nurses, and social workers in the Medical School’s division of Pediatric Hematology are working with the Sickle Cell Association of Austin-Marc Thomas Foundation to host Houston’s First Annual Walk for Sickle Cell.

This walk, set for Oct. 26, 2013, at MacGregor Park, will help send children ages 6-14 with Sickle Cell Disease to Camp Cell-A-Bration, as well as provide support group meetings, family events, financial resources to families and numerous other services. The goals are to raise awareness of this disease and fundraise to support all kids affected by Sickle Cell Disease who would like to go to this camp next summer.

The registration opens at 9 a.m., with the 5K walk starting at 10 a.m.
