The UTHealth Latino Medical Student Association chapter, in collaboration with Baylor College of Medicine, hosted the 9th annual LMSA National Conference April 25-27. The theme for this year’s conference was “Creciendo Juntos: Improving Healthcare For and By Latinos.”
The conference attracted approximately 350 students in every aspect of their medical education. High school and undergraduate students learned about how to prepare themselves in college to make themselves better applicants for medical school. Current medical students and medical residents/fellows attended leadership seminars to help them make the best of their time in medical school.
The conference also hosted an exhibition fair that helped the attendees connect with various schools and programs that can benefit them in various aspects of their professional life. Also, a research poster competition between medical students had over 30 contestants with a cash prize for those in the top three places.
The conference concluded with a gala that awarded scholarships and honored those who provided support to the organizing of the conference. Everyone at the Medical School LMSA chapter would like to thank the Student InterCouncil for the support they have provided us and hope to have future collaborations.
