proteopath labThe Brown Foundation Institute for Molecular Medicine offers a new CLIA Clinical Molecular Diagnostics Lab (ProteoPath).

The lab provides proteomics, genomics, metabolomics, systems biology/bioinformatics/biomedical informatics, and personalized medicine, including biomarker scanning of gene mutations for melanoma, thyroid cancer, and colon cancer, among others.

“We now provide an array of diagnostic tests to our own UT Physicians and have begun rolling this service out to Sienna Village and Memorial Hermann locations,” said Dr. David Gorenstein, director of the lab and chair of the Department of Nanomedicine and Biomedical Engineering.

The lab now offers Vitamin D as well as therapeutic drug monitoring assays for patients, or pre-clinical or clinical trials.

“Personalized medicine is about offering the right drug at the right time at the right dose, and that’s what our lab does,” Gorenstein said, adding that the new technology is extraordinarily accurate.

The lab is CLIA certified and has experience in clinical as well as research testing.
