Dr. Mohammad Zare has been named chief of staff for Harris Health System’s Community Health Program, a network of integrated neighborhood health centers, school-based clinics and mobile health units, and a major provider of the more than 1.8 million outpatient visits served annually by Harris Health.

Zare, assistant professor and vice chair of community health programs, Department of Family and Community Medicine, has served as assistant chief of staff since 2012. As chief of staff, he will work with the health system’s long-standing medical partners of UTHealth and Baylor College of Medicine to oversee the physician staffing needs for Harris Health’s primary care locations.

“Dr. Zare’s knowledge of our integrated healthcare system and the respect he has from his medical peers, particularly his physician colleagues, makes him a valuable asset to Harris Health,” said Dr. Ericka Brown, senior vice president and administrator, Harris Health Ambulatory Care Services. “His commitment to excellent patient care and physician education is second to none.”

Zare completed his medical residency at UTHealth in 1994 before joining Harris Health in 1997 as the medical director for Harris Health Baytown Health Center. He remained in that position for 14 years before accepting the position of medical director of Harris Health’s Ambulatory Care Services, the health system’s entire outpatient care platform.

“I look forward to working with our medical partners to continue Harris Health’s efforts to provide patients with excellent healthcare through evidence-based practices and the most current research and education,” he said
