Ready to walk so they can run? Join Team UTHealth for the annual March of Dimes® March for Babies, a five-mile walk for stronger, healthier babies on Sunday, April 26 at the University of Houston, 2400 Calhoun. Walkers who raise or contribute at least $25 will be invited to participate in a team lunch after the walk and will also receive a Team UTHealth T-shirt.
Team UTHealth has set a goal of raising $45,000 for March of Dimes®, an organization that provides funds for lifesaving research for babies, as well as antepartum resources for parents. Help us meet this goal by walking and fundraising to give hope to the nearly half a million babies born too soon each year.
Walkers can join Team UTHealth by contacting any of the team captains. You do not need to be part of the area/department to join. If you would like to become a team captain, please contact Natasha Helm. Please note that you must attend the March for Babies event on April 26 in order to receive a T-shirt.
Team UTHealth March for Babies captains include: Kim Edmonsond, Pediatric Surgery; Scottie Wahlstrom, Pediatric Surgery; Liz Vinson, Psychiatry; Elvia Cortinas, Children’s Learning Institute; Jessica Davis, Pediatrics; Tomas Green, UT Physicians; Rebecca Carter, OBGYN; Jessica Sanchez, Pediatrics WIC Clinic.
This year, Dr. Lorraine Frazier, dean of UTHealth School of Nursing, and Dr. Sean Blackwell, chair of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, will serve as Team UTHealth Co-Chairs. Money raised helps fund research in the Texas Medical Center – including at UTHealth – and supports education programs in our community that help moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies.
