UTHealth is embarking on a momentous quest to double our endowments over the next year so that we may continue to revolutionize health care long into the future. You can be a part of this game changing feat by investing in UTHealth’s greatest assets: the students, researchers and faculty who strive every day to break new ground in health care and health policy.
To help advance these efforts, the university will match 100% of all new major gifts of $50,000 – $1,000,000 made to existing endowed funds or to establish new endowed funds in 2015.
How It Works
Beginning January 1, 2015, UTHealth will match qualified individual donor endowment gifts with institutional funds.
Individual major gifts between $50K and $1M will be matched, one-to-one, and endowed gifts above $1M will have the first $1M matched.
Existing or newly created scholarships, professorships, chairs and research funds are eligible to receive a match.
Donors will be recognized for their portion of the gift and will receive a gift receipt for income tax purposes for the amount personally contributed.
The annual endowment stewardship report will reflect the total amount in the endowment, including the matching funds.
Supporting the Future of Health Care
Endowments lay a foundation and serve as valuable incentive to attract and retain the best and the brightest students and faculty to UTHealth. An endowment is a permanent fund designated for a specific purpose by the donor. Earned income from the endowment account is used for that specified purpose, while the principal is never used, thus, the endowment is held in perpetuity. Through the Game Changers Initiative, you can double your investment in scientific discovery, education and patient care and deepen your impact in the future of health care.
There are several ways you can invest in endowments through UTHealth’s Game Changers Initiative:
Distinguished University Chair ($3 million minimum endowment)
Distinguished Chair ($2 million)
Chair ($1 million)
Distinguished Professorship ($500,000)
Faculty ($100,000) and Graduate ($25,000) Fellowships
President’s Research Fund ($25,000)
Special Research Funds ($25,000)
