ct scanUT Physicians and Memorial Hermann Cancer Center proudly announce the launch of a comprehensive lung cancer screening program designed for early detection of lung cancer in high-risk individuals. Patients aged 55-74 who are current or former smokers are eligible for lung cancer screening.

The program offers a pulmonary consultation appointment, in which Dr. Pushan Jani, assistant professor of internal medicine, pulmonary, will provide education on risks and benefits of screening.  If the screening criteria are met and the patient is interested in pursuing screening, individuals will be scheduled for a low-dose chest CT scan at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center Radiology Department. Those with a lung abnormality identified on a CT scan will discuss next steps with the pulmonologist.

UT Physicians-MHH Cancer Center also offers comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for lung cancer. Dr. Syed Jafri, assistant professor of internal medicine, oncology, and Dr. Shan Guo, assistant professor of internal medicine, oncology, along with other members of cancer center team work closely with patients and their families offering the latest options in treatment.

If you think your patients may be eligible for screening, patients or physician offices can call Lung Cancer Oncology Nurse Navigator Jennifer Ramos at 713.704.3951 to schedule an appointment.

Alternatively, physicians can email secure patient information directly to lungscreeningtmc@memorialhermann.org and our team will contact the patient to make an appointment.
