the inside scoop logoAfter a full year of work, the Before I Die wall is part of Houston’s new Midtown Park and is a hit!

This is an art project that I came across in April 2014, and I thought it would be a great idea to have one built in honor of my mother, who passed away in March 2014.

The concept of the wall is to create a “bucket list” type of idea for fellow citizens to come up to the wall and write down their thoughts. You get to make a website and track the progress of the board. It was first started by an artist in New Orleans and has erupted all over the world. There are over 400 boards in 300+ countries all over the world.

I have been working on this proposing this project to the city of Houston and getting it passed/funded/supported for a brand new park in the heart of Houston. The Midtown Park, located at Gray and Bagby, is a $6 million park, and the wall was professionally built by an architect. I’m blessed for the help of Midtown Management group for helping make this all possible.

I am super pumped about it because it took many proposals and planning on my end….but I know it was all worth it for our family as a team to help cherish and remember the loving qualities of Mom.

“Live life to the fullest.” Anyone who knew Vini Shah would describe her by this phrase. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend. She was the most caring, energetic, and giving woman I ever knew. When Vini was suddenly taken from us and this world on March 8, 2014, I realized this was not a loss, but a new calling for her and life’s purpose. Vini’s whole life goal was to spread her joy, happiness, and love to anyone who crossed her path. She had one of the biggest hearts and made sure to touch and brighten everyone’s day.

Raising three children, she always told us growing up, “If you want something in life, don’t let anything stop you from attaining that dream.” This Before I Die wall was organized by the Shah brothers, her three diamonds, charged with following in her footsteps and spreading joy and warmth to others.

I hope everyone can enjoy it and help remember my mother as the loving, caring and colorful woman that she was.
