Pre-entry students take a break during their four-week program.

This summer, 26 incoming medical students from UTHealth Medical School and Baylor College of Medicine participated in the Pre-Entry program sponsored by the Office of Educational Programs.

The 4-week program included a course in Gross Anatomy taught by Drs. Len Cleary and Han Zhang; a Biochemistry course taught by Drs. Phil Carpenter and Henry Strobel; and a combined Physiology and Neuroscience course taught by Drs. Alex Gorfe, John Byrne, Richard Clark, Shane Cunha and Norman Weisbrodt.

The Pre-Entry program also included sessions on stress management, study skills, and a standardized patient exercise in the Skills Center. Students also enjoyed a social gathering at the home of Drs. Ian and Patricia Butler.

The program is directed by Dr. Andrew Harper and coordinated by Erin Bodeker.  Two MS II students, Van Nguyen and Alex Saucedo, served as tutors and mentors.
