The Federal Bureau of Investigation invites members of McGovern Medical School to attend a conference focused on the targeting of proprietary and government-sponsored research at higher education institutions.
The conference, hosted by the FBI Houston Counterintelligence unit as part of the FBI’s Academic Alliance Initiative, will be held 8 a.m. – 3 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 19, at FBI Houston, 1 Justice Park Drive, Houston.
The FBI recognizes knowledge knows no boundaries; global competition is good, and the flow of information vital. However, given the uniqueness of the campus environment, the conference goal is to establish an open dialogue with academic institutions about substantive threats targeting the campus environment by providing valuable information to help protect your institution from a multitude of threats.
The conference objective is to inform administrators and faculty about substantive national security issues affecting nearly all colleges and universities. Presentations and case studies will show how proprietary and government-sponsored research are valuable targets for nefarious activity.
Attendees should register with Janet O’Keeffe by Nov.13. Please include the first name, last name, title, institution name, contact telephone number and e-mail address of each attendee.
