Twenty-nine students comprise this year’s pre-entry group.

This summer 29 incoming medical students from McGovern Medical School and Baylor College of Medicine participated in the Pre-Entry program sponsored by the Office of Educational Programs.

The four-week program included a course in Gross Anatomy taught by Drs. Len Cleary, and Han Zhang; a Biochemistry course taught by Drs. Phil Carpenter, Myla Ashfaq, Hope Northrup, and John Putkey; and a combined Physiology and Neuroscience course taught by Drs. Alex Gorfe, John Byrne, and Norman Weisbrodt.

The Pre-Entry program also included sessions on stress management, ethics, study skills, and a standardized patient exercise in the Skills Center. Students also enjoyed a social gathering at the home of Drs. Ian and Patricia Butler.

The program is directed by Dr. Andrew Harper and coordinated by Erin Bodeker.  Two MS II students, Jerry Jewell and Maneesha Gaddikoppula, served as tutors and mentors.
