Starting the first Monday of October, UTHealth launches the annual State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC).
This year, the SECC Committee asks you to join SECC’s campaign: Count on Me! During the campaign, UTHealth employees will proclaim their favorite charitable organization(s) can count on them for financial support in the 2017 calendar year.
Donations can be made online through Employee Self Service. Once you donate, you are invited to send a selfie holding a sign stating which charitable organization(s) can count on you. Submit your photo to firstname.lastname@example.org and it may be posted on our SECC website or promoted through UTHealth social media channels. Your personal testimonial and donation may inspire others to give!
During the 2015 campaign, 626 people gave an average of $19.89 a month ($238 a year) for a total of $149,413. This year, the SECC Committee’s goal is to raise $160,000.
During the Oct. 3 – 24 campaign, you have the option to give to one or more charities of your choice by either making a one-time donation or by pledging to contribute a set amount per paycheck throughout the year.
Your online pledge during the 2016 campaign is tax deductible for the 2017 tax year and all payroll deductions will begin Jan. 1, 2017. Cash and checks written during the campaign can be attributed to the 2016 tax year, as this is the year the actual donation was received.
