In honor of its 30th anniversary, UTHealth Harris County Psychiatric Center is hosting a free continuing medical education event for alumni and colleagues Saturday, Oct. 15.
“Innovations in Mental Health Treatment” will be held at HCPC, 2800 MacGregor Way, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will include five speakers and a tour of the facility, including the renovated electroconvulsive therapy clinic and new geripsychiatry unit.
Speakers include Iram Kazimi, M.D., assistant professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences, speaking on “Pediatric Bipolar Disorder: Identification and Intervention;” Madhavi Reddy, Ph.D., addressing “Trauma-Informed Care and Trauma-Specific Interventions;” Elizabeth Newlin, M.D., associate professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences, on “Non-suicidal Self-injury: An Update for Clinicians;” Breno Diniz, M.D., Ph.D., speaking on “New Developments in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease;” and Salih Selek, M.D., associate professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences, addressing “Ketamine Infusion in Refractory Depression.”
