The McGovern Medical School Art Wall will host a special exhibit featuring student art from Dr. James “Red” Duke Elementary School.
Framed crayon drawings from students of the 2014 first grade class of Mrs. Valmarie Vannoy will be on display starting Nov. 16. The Medical School is invited to a reception from 3-5 p.m. that day at the art wall, which is located on the ground floor of the Medical School Building.
The artwork was inspired by Dr. James H. “Red” Duke Jr. and sent to him soon after the Alvin ISD school was dedicated, Sept. 7, 2014. His daughter Sara recently discovered the art and suggested it be displayed at the medical school.
Nov. 16, 2016, would have been Dr. Duke’s 88th birthday.
