The 7th Academy of Master Educators (AME) induction ceremony and dinner was held on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Third Coast.

Dr. Gary Rosenfeld, chairman of the academy, welcomed 12 new inductees (bringing the total Academy membership to 56) and their guests, along with other academy members.

Also, in attendance were Dean Barbara J. Stoll, Dr. George Stancel, and Dr. Kevin Morano.  The new members are:  Jammie K. Barnes, M.D., assistant professor, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunogenetics; C. Mark Chassay, M.D., assistant professor, Departments of Orthopedic Surgery and Family Medicine; Thomas Cole, Ph.D., professor, McGovern Center for Humanities & Ethics; Syed S. Hashmi, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor, Department of Pediatrics; Mark D. Hormann, M.D., associate professor, Department of Pediatrics; Iram F. Kazimi, M.D., assistant professor, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences; Bruce C. Kone, M.D., professor, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension; Gus W. Krucke, M.D., assistant professor, Department of Internal Medicine; Brandy J. McKelvy, M.D., associate professor, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Critical Care Medicine; Emma A. Omoruyi, M.D., assistant professor, Department of Pediatrics; Roy F. Riascos-Castaneda, M.D., associate professor, Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging; and Priya Weerasinghe, M.D., Ph.D., assistant professor, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

Dr. Warren L. Holleman, director, Faculty and Health Well-Being Program of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, was the guest speaker. His talk was titled, “The Things That Matter Most:  In Our Careers, In Our Relationships, and in Our Lives.”
