Jennifer Swails, M.D., assistant professor of internal medicine, will be the commencement speaker of the McGovern Medical School’s graduating class of 2017.
Swails’ role involves direct patient care in both the inpatient and outpatient care settings, as well as quality improvement and medical education. She received her medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College and completed residency training in internal medicine and primary care at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She serves as the associate program director of the internal medicine residency program.
Joining the McGovern Medical School faculty in 2012, Swails was inducted into the Academy of Master Educators in 2015. In 2016, she received a UT System patient safety grant to develop a curriculum to teach teamwork skills to students throughout the health sciences.
Commencement will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, May 18 at the George R. Brown Convention Center General Assembly Theater.
