As the result of a mandate from UTHealth President Giuseppe Colasurdo, standardized on-call scheduling is now available online for all physician and resident scheduling.
AMiON is a standard scheduling system that interfaces with Memorial Hermann Hospital and is used by such institutions as Stanford, Duke, and NYU. It was introduced at McGovern Medical School 5 years ago, and as of March, all Medical School departments have been onboarded to the system.
“This is state-of-the-art technology and is available online so schedules can be easily,” explained Naila Ghorbel, senior administrative coordinator of AMiON, Medical School Information Technology. “To have all departments on board using this standard system is also a high priority of Dean Stoll and Dr. Nancy McNiel.”
Staff can be notified anytime a change is made to the on-call schedule, and schedule changes are viewable in real-time. Call schedules can be synched to personal calendars and downloaded into an excel spreadsheet for printing as well.
Training is offered as needed, and an app is also available for users. For more details, please see the website.
