The UTHealth Consortium on Aging and McGovern Medical School are inviting the public out to a special presentation by Betsy Broyles Arnold as part of an event recognizing World Alzheimer’s Day Sept. 20.
The free event will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. at The Denton A. Cooley, MD and Ralph C. Cooley, DDS University Life Center (7440 Cambridge St., Houston, TX 77030). Arnold, CEO of the Frank and Barbara Broyles Foundation and co-author of “Coach Broyles’ Playbook for Alzheimer’s Caregivers,” has been an advocate for caregivers of Alzheimer’s patients for years. Her foundation has provided services for caregivers including counseling, education, and advocacy.
During the presentation, titled “Caring for our Caregivers,” Arnold will address practical ways for caretakers to connect with their loved ones while maintaining their own health. The lecture will be followed by a Q&A session and lunch is provided. The event is presented by The Phyllis Gough Huffington Endowed Lecture Series and UTHealth Consortium on Aging with the UTHealth Harris County Psychiatric Center (HCPC).
