The 2018 Molecular Basis of Infectious Diseases (MBID) Retreat is sponsored by the MBID Training Program, the Department of Molecular Genetics, and the Center for the Study of Emerging and Re-Emerging PathogensTime is running out to register online for the 2018 Molecular Basis of Infectious Diseases (MBID) Retreat, presented by the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at McGovern Medical School.

While on-site registration will be available for the event, online registration must be completed by Feb. 3. The daylong event will be held 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine (1825 Pressler St.) and registration is free. All faculty, students, fellows (research or clinical) and staff interested in pathogenesis and infectious diseases are welcome to attend.

The retreat, sponsored by the MBID Training Program, the Department of Molecular Genetics, and the Center for the Study of Emerging and Re-Emerging Pathogens, aims to foster communication and collaboration among molecular pathogenesis researchers in Texas. The retreat offers oral presentations from guest speakers, selected graduate students, and fellows, an optional workshop beginning at 9 a.m. regarding career development in microbiology and infectious diseases, and a continental breakfast and lunch is provided.

The event also offers a poster session with awards for best posters from graduate students and fellows with first, second, and third place awards with cash prizes.

Those that are not presenting a poster are still encouraged to register.
