The 16th annual Run for the Rose will be held Sunday, April 8, at NRG Park.
The 5k run begins at 8:15 a.m., the 1k Fun Run/Walk begins at 8:45 a.m., and the Survivor Stroll starts at 8 a.m. Registration for the adult timed 5k starts at $35 and the child timed 5k registration starts at $20. Registration for the adult non-timed 5K or 1K costs $30 and children can register for $15. Prices for registration will see a slight increase beginning March 30 and online registration closes 5 p.m. April 7.
The event, held in memory of Dr. Marnie Rose, a second-year resident who died of brain cancer at age 28, benefits brain cancer research at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, pediatric health initiatives at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, and research and treatment for children with brain tumors at McGovern Medical School. The 2017 Run for the Rose had more than 5,500 participants, including 100 survivors, and netted more than $600,000. Since 2003, the Dr. Marnie Rose Foundation has donated more than $5.7 million to brain cancer research.
