CARMIG hosts opening ceremony Nov. 29

The grand opening ceremony and launch for the UT Center for Antimicrobial Resistance and Microbial Genomics (CARMiG) and the Gulf Coast Consortia Cluster for Antimicrobial Resistance will be held 4:30 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29 at the BioScience Research Collaborative 6500 Main St. in Houston.

New superbug research center opens

McGovern Medical School has opened a new research center to address the global health threat posed by antibiotic-resistant bacteria known as superbugs. An introductory ceremony is scheduled for Nov. 29.

Arias awarded UT System STAR

Cesar A. Arias, M.D., MSc, Ph.D., FIDSA, associate professor of internal medicine, infectious diseases, and leading translational physician-scientist in antibiotic resistance, is the recipient of a UT System Faculty Translational STARs Retention Award.
